AC Shadows Introduces Surprising AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of banned rituals and terrifying transformations echo through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.
The mission focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Features
Players who accomplish the adventure will receive an special katana together with multiple items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Addition
This release also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
